Brian G. Keating

For his work on the Background Imaging of Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization (BICEP) project and for installing upgrades to BICEP that will dramatically improve its sensitivity, allowing for a detection of the gravity wave background of the early universe. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to education and public outreach, has developed a physics course in astronomical instrumentation, and a project-based learning program with a San Diego area high school that explores the challenges facing satellite mission designers.
