Dr. Sasha Luks-Morgan is a neuroscientist and science communicator originally from Pennsylvania. She received her bachelor's degree from Hampshire College in neuroscience and earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Utah in 2020. During her Ph.D., she studied how the brain responds to pain and how different neurotransmitters facilitate circuit-wide responses. Since graduating, Luks-Morgan has worked as a science informationist at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. She has also taught a number of workshops on science communication and science policy and has worked with many scientists to help tailor their outreach and advocacy skills. She is particularly passionate about fostering excitement about STEM for the next generation of scientists and researchers. To this end, she has brought Brain Awareness Week to a number of Salt Lake City elementary schools, hosted high school students for hands-on training in molecular biology and taught a science journal club for high school students.
