Biography:

Ben McCall is an interdisciplinary scientist, with formal training in chemistry, physics, and astronomy, and roughly a decade of experience in the area of sustainability.  From 2004-2018, he served as a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with appointments in the Chemistry, Astronomy, and Physics departments as well as the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment.  In 2018, he became the inaugural Executive Director of the Hanley Sustainability Institute at the University of Dayton, where he now serves as Professor of Sustainability.  In 2021, he co-launched the Planetary Limits Academic Network.  In 2023, he joined NSF as a rotating program director in the EPSCoR program in the Office of Integrative Activities.
