About this event
Greetings:
The registration for the 2012 Puerto Rico Interdisciplinary Scientific Meeting (PRISM) sponsored by the Puerto Rico Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (PR-LSAMP) is now open. The PRISM will take place on March 10, 2012 at University of Puerto Rico Carolina Campus. We will like to encourage undergraduate and graduate students from Puerto Rico and mainland institutions to present at the largest annual interdisciplinary scientific forum offered in Puerto Rico where over 300 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) undergraduate and graduate students present their research projects to their peers and faculty members. Undergraduate students present their research projects in oral concurrent sessions while graduate students present their work at a poster session in the afternoon. Pre-registration through our website is only required for students presenting their work and any secondary presenters in the case of two students presenting the same work (http://www.prlsamp.org/). Last year, over 800 students and professors attended the event, including 15 students from mainland LSAMP institutions.
This year plenary speaker will be Dr. Eric Mazur, Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics at Harvard University presenting his work on "Subcelullar Surgery and Nanosurgery". This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the exciting research activity that is taking place in the island. Mainland students will have the opportunity of visiting research laboratories at UPR-Rio Piedras.
Please find enclosed the flyer promoting the activity and the steps students must follow to register for the meeting. For more information please contact Ana Feliciano (afeliciano.prlsamp@gmail.com) or Krisia Melendez (kmelendez.prlsamp@gmail.com) or by phone at 787-764-9116.
