The House Science Committee will hold a hearing on "Research on Environmental and Safety Impacts of Nanotechnology: What Are the Federal Agencies Doing?" on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, beginning at 10 A.M., eastern time. Scheduled witnesses include: Dr. Arden L. Bement, Jr., NSF Director; Dr. Norris E. Alderson, Chair, Nanotechnology Environmental and Health Implications Working Group, and Associate Commissioner for Science, Food and Drug Adminstration; Dr. George Gray, Assistant Administrator for Research and Development and Science Advisor, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Dr. Altaf H. (Tof) Carim, Program Manager, Nanoscale Science and Electron Scattering Center, Office of Basic Energy Sciences, U.S. Department of Energy; Dr. Andrew Maynard , Chief Science Advisor for the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars; and Mr. Matthew M. Nordan, Vice President of Research, Lux Research Inc.
