About this event
Join the Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (MCB) at the National Science Foundation for our next virtual office hour. On Wednesday, October 16th from 2-3pm ET, the topic will be Opportunities at the National Synthesis Center for Emergence in the Molecular and Cellular Sciences (NCEMS).
Please register here.
Topics will include – how to apply for NCEMS support to form working groups, as well as information about postdoctoral scholarships, the remote research experience program, summer undergraduate internships, and cyberinfrastructure support from CyVerse.
The mission of NCEMS is to accelerate large-scale synthesis research and open new avenues of inquiry in molecular and cellular biosciences by lowering the barriers to data integration and use across disciplines, promoting the transfer of methodologies, and making knowledge widely accessible. The center will support collaborative and open science, and provide training in data science, machine learning, and modeling techniques to engage a diverse community of scientists, postdoctoral scholars, and students from various fields in synthesis research. The center will also offer nationwide opportunities for students to participate in research remotely. By partnering with minority-serving institutions including Claflin University, Alcorn State University, and Fayetteville State University, NCEMS aims to broaden participation in STEM fields, democratize access to research, and prepare individuals for careers in computational and data sciences. The center is led by Penn State with cyberinfrastructure provided by NSF-supported CyVerse at University of Arizona.
