About this event
About this Event
The NSF Convergence Accelerator is expanding from a single NSF program to a national program, creating 10 regionally focused NSF Convergence Accelerators implemented by leads called Regional Anchors. This network of NSF Regional Convergence Accelerators will expand the geography of innovation through the promotion of convergence research, increasing NSF’s reach to engage more researchers and scaling the delivery of use-inspired solutions to benefit the region and nation.
As a part of this effort, the NSF Convergence Accelerator is conducting a series of outreach events to share the expansion and opportunities with a wide range of organizations and individuals. The events will bring attendees from academia, industry, nonprofits, government and other communities of practice together to begin solving each region’s most complex challenges, ones that cannot be solved without multiple disciplines and expertise coming together. The NSF Convergence Accelerator program model has been designed to build upon basic research and discovery to accelerate use-inspired research toward tangible, real-world solutions.
The launch of the Northeast Regional Expansion Events follows the program’s successful execution of similar events in both the Midwest Region (May 2024) and the Southeast Region (July 2024). After the program concludes the regional events, a Regional Anchor solicitation will be issued to establish one organization to lead the Regional NSF Convergence Accelerator.
Over the next three years, NSF plans to expand to 10 geographic regions: the Northwest, West, Mountain, Southwest, Midwest, South Central, Central, Northeast, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
