About this event
The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Activities pursued by early-career faculty should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. NSF encourages submission of CAREER proposals from early-career faculty at all CAREER-eligible organizations and especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and persons with disabilities to apply.
EVENT: The workshop is intended to provide guidance and mentorship to prospective CAREER applicants to the NSF Directorate for Education and Human Resources. It will serve as an opportunity for participants to gain a better understanding of the program, including eligibility requirements, the application process, and outcomes of past CAREER awardees, and for participants to interact with other applicants, former awardees, and NSF program officers.
WHEN: Tuesday, May 10, 2022, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Eastern time
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Potential CAREER applicants to the NSF EHR Directorate, including early-career scholars who conduct or plan to conduct research in STEM education. Detailed information on program eligibility generally can be found here. EHR specific guidance regarding CAREER applications can be found here. FAQs about the CAREER program are here.

AGENDA: A finalized agenda will be sent to all registrants prior to the workshop. The workshop will begin with introductions by NSF EHR leadership, followed by panels comprised of current and former CAREER PIs, information sessions presented by NSF staff, and interactive breakout sessions with CAREER PIs and NSF program officers. There will be an opportunity for participants to register for one-on-one meetings with NSF program officers to discuss the program and their individual applications. Those participants will be afforded the option to provide short (1-2 page) precis of their CAREER proposal ideas for discussions with NSF program officers.
LOGISTICS: The IDA Science and Technology Policy Institute will be facilitating the meeting on NSF’s behalf. Portions of the meeting may be recorded. Participation in this session implies consent for NSF to capture your name, voice, and likeness, and anything you say may be recorded and transcribed for NSF use. Moderators will manage participation and remove disruptive participants if necessary.
