About this event
This is a planning event being held for creating the Center for Fundamental Studies of Advanced Sustainable Iron and Steel. The lead institution for this Center is Michigan Technological University, in partnership with the University of Utah. The meeting is to solicit input from the iron and steel industry on the structure of the Center and to propose initial areas of study. Charter memberships for the Center are available, and a prospectus will be provided to potential Center members upon request.

A previous meeting was held during the summer of 2007 at the Doubletree Hotel -Pittsburgh Airport, which was completely supported by industry. Three additional meetings are in the planning stages, to be held in conjunction with the following professional society meetings:
