About the series
Since the International Geophysical Year, 1957-58, research in the Transantarctic Mountains south of Darwin Glacier has focused on bedrock geology and to a lesser extent glacial geology; opportunities, however, include biology, geophysics, glaciology, meteorology, surface processes and others. This workshop will highlight these opportunities, bring in disciplines not usually represented in Transantarctic Mountains research, and involve new investigators, as well as providing opportunities to initiate new inter-disciplinary research.
The objective is to develop a multi-year science plan for multidisciplinary research that can be accomplished with logistic support that will include LC-130 Hercules and Twin Otter aircraft and helicopter-supported remote field camps.

The Workshop Conveners anticipate that partial support will be provided for up to 35 participants by a grant from the Office of Polar Programs, National Science Foundation
