EGFP: Top Five Things to Know
Potential PI Institutions
- Must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the program solicitation (NSF 24-588) which includes being in an NSF designated EPSCoR jurisdiction
- EGFP institutions can be new to NSF and are not required to have a previous association with any NSF program
- Should know that potential Fellows need not have current institution affiliation
- EGFP Institutions receive $37,000 for stipends and $16,000 for tuition and fees for 3 funded years per EGFP Fellow and Fellows have 5 years to utilize the funding
- Potential PIs must submit proposals via Research.gov or Grants.gov by Oct 2, 2024, 5 p.m. local time
Potential Fellows
- Must meet Fellow requirements outlined in the solicitation (NSF 24-588), including receiving GRFP HM designation in 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 and register in the NSF Education & Training Application, https://etap.nsf.gov/
- Should know that eligibility is not related to current graduate program acceptance, nor enrollment in a graduate degree program, nor years of graduate study, nor previously chosen field of study nor current academic year
- Should know that applicants are not required to be in grad school nor to be associated with an EGFP institution before registration
- Applicants must be accepted by an EGFP institution and designated program to become a Fellow
- Institutions receive $37,000 for stipends and $16,000 for tuition and fees for 3 funded years and Fellows have 5 years to utilize the funding
