Important information about NSF’s implementation of the revised 2 CFR

NSF Financial Assistance awards (grants and cooperative agreements) made on or after October 1, 2024, will be subject to the applicable set of award conditions, dated October 1, 2024, available on the NSF website. These terms and conditions are consistent with the revised guidance specified in the OMB Guidance for Federal Financial Assistance published in the Federal Register on April 22, 2024.

Important information for proposers

All proposals must be submitted in accordance with the requirements specified in this funding opportunity and in the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) that is in effect for the relevant due date to which the proposal is being submitted. It is the responsibility of the proposer to ensure that the proposal meets these requirements. Submitting a proposal prior to a specified deadline does not negate this requirement.

EGFP: Proposals for Fellows in Multiple Academic Programs, Interdisciplinary Programs and Cross Program Themes

EGFP welcomes proposals that:

  • Include Multiple academic programs and those that exclusively focus on one academic program. Some examples:
    • Competitive proposals to support 2 Fellows for an MS program in Math Education, 3 for an MS program in Engineering and 1 for an PhD program in Physics
    • Competitive proposals to support 3 Fellows exclusively for an MS program in Astronomy
  • Do not include cross program or interdisciplinary themes and those with cross program or interdisciplinary themes and proposals with both. Some examples:
    • Competitive proposals to support Fellows in Physics Education and in Physics without any cross-program themes
    • Competitive proposals to support Fellows in Chemistry and Engineering with cross program themes
    • Competitive proposals to support Fellows in Chemistry and Engineering with cross program themes and additional Fellows in Computer Science without any cross-program theme
    • Competitive proposals to support Fellows in Chemistry and Engineering with cross program themes and additional Fellows in an interdisciplinary Engineering and Computer Science program

Note that additionally, EGFP welcomes:

  • Competitive proposals to support Fellows in programs that combine biology and artificial intelligence, that advance the bioeconomy, and/or create solutions for a resilient planet.
  • Competitive proposals to support Fellows pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in a STEM discipline aligned with an EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) award within the jurisdiction will be considered in alignment with the NSF Office of Integrative Activities (OIA). RII funded projects may be found at https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/.
  • Competitive proposals engaging Fellows in graduate curricula designed in collaborationwith non-academic employers to address skills gaps that are the focus of the Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) will be considered. https://new.nsf.gov/tip/latest.
