Important information about NSF’s implementation of the revised 2 CFR

NSF Financial Assistance awards (grants and cooperative agreements) made on or after October 1, 2024, will be subject to the applicable set of award conditions, dated October 1, 2024, available on the NSF website. These terms and conditions are consistent with the revised guidance specified in the OMB Guidance for Federal Financial Assistance published in the Federal Register on April 22, 2024.

Important information for proposers

All proposals must be submitted in accordance with the requirements specified in this funding opportunity and in the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) that is in effect for the relevant due date to which the proposal is being submitted. It is the responsibility of the proposer to ensure that the proposal meets these requirements. Submitting a proposal prior to a specified deadline does not negate this requirement.

Supports research on algebraic topology, differential topology, geometric group theory, and general topology and continua theory.

Supports research on algebraic topology, differential topology, geometric group theory, and general topology and continua theory.

Synopsis

The Topology program supports research on algebraic topology, including homotopy theory, homology and cohomology theories, cobordism theory, and K-theory; topological manifolds and cell complexes, fiberings, knots, and links; differential topology and actions of groups of transformations; and geometric group theory.

Conferences

Topology proposals for conferences, workshops, summer/winter schools, and similar activities must be submitted through the program solicitation "Conferences and Workshops in the Mathematical Sciences" and list Topology as a program of interest.

The program’s submission windows for conference/travel proposals are September 1-30 and April 1-30. Proposals with budgets not exceeding $50,000 should be submitted during a submission window that occurs at least six months prior to the event. Proposals with budget requests that exceed $50,000 should be submitted during a submission window that occurs at least eight months prior to the event.

Principal Investigators should carefully read the solicitation and relevant sections of the PAPPG to obtain important information regarding the substance of such proposals and note the additional requirements for travel support requests for international events.
