Transport Phenomena Cluster

Important information for proposers

Any proposal submitted in response to this funding opportunity should be submitted in accordance with the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) that is in effect for the relevant due date to which the proposal is being submitted. The NSF PAPPG is regularly revised and it is the responsibility of the proposer to ensure that the proposal meets the requirements specified in this solicitation and the applicable version of the PAPPG. Submitting a proposal prior to a specified deadline does not negate this requirement.

Synopsis

The Transport Phenomena Cluster (TPC) consists of four programs that support fundamental investigations in science and engineering. The main themes of the cluster are single- and multi-phase flow dynamics, particulate, heat and mass transfer, and combustion and fire dynamics. All these themes share, at a fundamental level, the transport of mass, species, momentum and energy. Other more specific themes for TPC include turbulence and transition, biofluids, micro-fluids, flow instabilities, multiphase flows, particle dynamics, colloidal solutions, interfacial transport, combustion science, fire prevention and suppression, convention/diffusion/radiation, thermodynamics, bio-heat and mass transport, and micro-thermodynamics.
