For creating and applying new quantum states of matter to a variety of problems in atomic and condensed matter physics. His work is considered important to the demonstration of quantum phenomena in general, and as potential tools for technological applications. He is developing a collection of resources for in-class and web- based inquiry in upper-division physics courses that will be tested and available for broad distribution.
