Eric C. Greene

For developing a unique approach to visualize the interactions between single protein molecules, each bearing a fluorescent tag of one color, a single DNA strand and a fluorescent tag, but a different color. He has developed a process to simultaneously monitor hundreds of individual DNA molecules, seeing where the proteins bind to the DNA, how the molecules behave, and how they influence one another. Dr. Greene is also recognized for his dedication to effective mentoring of students at all levels of scientific sophistication.
