Michael Elowitz

For his research on the development and application of automated time-lapse fluorescence microscopy techniques to study the stochasticity and robustness of artificial and natural genetic circuits in order to understand how genetically identical cells make different decisions that determine their individual fate. In addition he is recognized for his dedicated commitment to education at all levels, especially to students from under represented groups.
