This week with NSF Director Panchanathan
This week, NSF Director Panchanathan spent a whirlwind week in Australia working to advance the U.S.-Australia research relationship while strengthening and scaling collaborations to create powerful global innovation ecosystems.
Upon arriving at the Data61 center, NSF, in partnership with Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, announced joint investments to accelerate groundbreaking research in responsible and ethical artificial intelligence focused on providing solutions to societal challenges, including pandemic preparedness, drought resilience and harmful environmental emissions.
From a circular economy panel focused on essential approaches to sustainability — a global challenge that will take a global approach — to conversations at the Group of Eight on safeguarding the development of critical science and technology, and a keynote speech at the 2023 Universities Australia Conference, Director Panchanathan spent the next few days connecting and working o form collaborations that address the priorities and challenges of like-minded partners and ensure NSF investments catalyze research and discoveries for the benefit of citizens everywhere.
