NSF has a long-standing partnership with the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) particularly in supporting joint research in biodiversity and environmental change. This past March, NSF and FAPESP signed a memorandum of understanding that expands collaboration across additional areas of mutual interest and further facilitates collaboration between U.S. and Brazilian researchers. NSF also has an active partnership with Brazil's National Council for Scientific and Technological Development.

Director Panchanathan also gave opening remarks virtually for NSF's Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES Initiative 2023 National Network Convening. He noted how the renaming of this flagship program honored the trailblazing career of former Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson for her unwavering dedication to broadening participation in science and engineering and creating opportunities for everyone to participate in our nation's STEM enterprise. The INCLUDES Convening rounded out with a fireside chat between the Honorable Eddie Bernice Johnson and NSF's Division of Equity for Excellence in STEM Program Director Tori Rhoulac Smith. NSF Chief Operating Officer Karen Marrongelle delivered closing remarks urging participants to continue their work to catalyze inclusive change and equity across the STEM enterprise.
