Biography
Dr. Lori Ziolkowski is a Program Director at the U.S. National Science Foundation in both the Technology, Innovation and Partnerships Directorate and the Directorate of Geosciences. In this role, she is helping build partnerships with a focus on climate change solutions using the market pull as a catalyst.
Ziolkowski has been with at NSF since August 2023. She is currently on detail from the University of South Carolina where she is an Associate Professor. With a background in quantifying carbon storage and turnover on the global scale, her efforts shifted from understanding future amplification of warming by nature systems to capacity building for climate action at the state and local level. After the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, she helped local communities and the state apply for and successfully secure funding, while also working with businesses community focused on their sustainability goals.
Ziolkowski earned her Ph.D. in Earth System Science from University of California Irvine, a Master of Science in Oceanography from Dalhousie University (Canada) and a Bachelors in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Waterloo (Canada).
