The U.S. National Science Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships

The U.S. National Science Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships. This step is consistent with the Fiscal Year 2022 omnibus appropriations bill and is well aligned with the vision Congress has set forth in authorizing legislation that has passed the House and Senate. NSF looks forward to final passage of legislation that strengthens the agency’s mission and ensures the U.S. will be a global leader in science, engineering and technology for generations to come.

This new NSF directorate will leverage discovery and innovation to rapidly address societal and economic challenges and bring new technologies to market," said NSF Director Sethuraman Panchanathan. "TIP is about developing exciting new approaches that supercharge research outcomes and enhance the cycle of discovery and innovation so that more solutions and technologies are available to the American people faster than ever. NSF is grateful for the continued strong support from Congress that is making this possibility a reality. We look forward to the passage of the Bipartisan Innovation Act, which will be the next critical step in ensuring TIP can generate a transformational evolution in translating America’s research to expand our economic leadership in the technologies of the future."
