Before Your Meeting

  1.  Review the Conflict of Interest Briefing
    As an NSF panelist, you are required to disclose any potential conflicts that may arise during your service. You are also required to maintain the confidentiality of all proposals and applicant identities.   2. Fill Out, Scan, and Email Your COI and Confidentiality Statement
    After reviewing the COI Briefing, please print, read, and sign the NSF Conflict-of-Interest and Confidentiality Statement for NSF Panelists. You may:

    • Scan and email the completed and signed form to the meeting coordinator who invited you to be a panelist, or
    • Fax the signed COI form to your meeting coordinator. To ensure that the fax is properly routed, please include the meeting coordinator's name and/or the Panel ID (PXXXXXX) on the fax cover sheet and advise your meeting coordinator via email that you have faxed the form.
  3. Register in the FastLane Travel and Reimbursement System and Watch the Merit Reviewers' Orientation Video

    • Before the day of your panel, you must enter or update your personal data and banking information in FastLane. Registration is required for us to reimburse/compensate you for your service. Access the FastLane Travel and Reimbursement System by logging into NSF FastLane Panelist Functions. See Registration instructions.
    • Note: In addition to completing registration before your meeting, each day while at the meeting, you must complete the FastLane Meeting Sign-in. Daily sign-in is required to receive reimbursement/compensation from NSF. Also note that NSF is not permitted to reimburse your employer or an institution for your participation.
    • NSF provides a 20-minute video to instruct its panelists in writing panel reviews. Watch the briefing and take the quiz prior to registering in FastLane if you have not viewed it within the last 12 months.

  4. Prepare Your Reviews in the FastLane Panel Review System:

    • Scan and email the completed and signed form to the meeting coordinator who invited you to be a participant, or
    • Fax the COI form to your meeting coordinator. If you fax, advise your meeting coordinator via email that you have faxed the form.
  2. Register for Your Meeting in the FastLane Travel and Reimbursement System
    Before arriving for your meeting, you must enter or update your personal data and banking information in FastLane. Registration is required for us to reimburse/compensate you for your service. Access the FastLane Travel and Reimbursement System by logging into NSF FastLane Panelist Functions. For instructions, click Online copy of instructions are available.

  3. Read any documents and complete any tasks that you have been assigned by Committee leadership/your meeting coordinator.
