Bio: Eugene L. Anderson, Ph.D., currently serves as Vice President for the Office of Access and Success at the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). In this role, Dr. Anderson works with APLU members to develop and implement initiatives to meet the key organizational objectives for advancing college access and success for all students, with a specific focus on underrepresented minority groups. He provides strategic leadership and direction for the APLU Office of Access and Success which has a primary responsibility for supporting the APLU Council of 1890 Universities and the Commission on Access, Diversity, and Excellence.
Summary: Dr. Anderson will discuss the 2018 report and its implications in engineering and computer and information science education. Despite the very significant increase in engineering bachelor's degrees earned by Black and Hispanic students, for example, their overall numbers remain low and not on pace to replace the future declines in the number of engineering degrees earned by White students.
