NSF's Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS) is hosting an informational webinar about the NRT Program, highlighting recent program changes. All members of the MPS research community are welcome to attend.  Don't worry if you can't make the webinar: feel free to e-mail the MPS and NRT program officers listed below.


Topics of focus

  • Overview of the NRT program (https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=505015), which is dedicated to effective training of STEM graduate students in high priority interdisciplinary or convergent research areas, through a comprehensive traineeship model that is innovative, evidence-based, and aligned with changing workforce and research needs.
  • Changes to the NRT solicitation (https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2021/nsf21536/nsf21536.htm), including a new two-track submission: Track 1 is open to all Institutions of Higher Education that award a research-based master’s degree or a doctoral degree in STEM disciplines supported by the Foundation. Track 2 is limited to non-R1 Institutions.
  • Review criteria for NRT proposals.
  • Q&A from the audience.
