Artificial intelligence and other technological advances are poised to make wide-spread changes in multiple sectors of American society, but health-related fields have been slow to adopt these technologies. Since 2013, the Smart Health Program, a collaboration between the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has funded vital basic research to address this gap, using innovative and interdisciplinary advances in computer science, engineering, mathematics, and the social and behavioral sciences.

One of the exciting areas that Smart Health researchers are targeting is technology to improve the lives of older adults. The growth in the elder population of the United States is expected to have significant impacts on the healthcare system. Meeting these demands will require cutting-edge technological approaches. This webinar will showcase how advances in computer science can contribute to the management of aging-related illnesses and impairments.
