Ally Kristan joins OPP as the 2022 Knauss Marine Policy Fellow
The Office of Polar Programs is pleased to welcome Ally Kristan as the 2022 Knauss Marine Policy Fellow.
Ms. Kristan received her BS in Marine Biology from UNC Wilmington, where she began studying Antarctic penguins through her honors thesis. After college, she spent some time working for a marine science nonprofit organization in Maui, Hawaii before returning to Antarctic penguin research at Louisiana State University where she obtained an MS in Oceanography & Coastal Sciences in 2021. Ms. Kristan spent last summer working as a Stewardship Coordinator and Seabird Monitor for Audubon Florida. She is excited to be a part of the Office of Polar Programs and to learn how Antarctic research can be translated into actionable, lasting change in conservation.
