Appointment of Dr. Sarah Ruth as acting section head, Antarctic sciences


Dr. Sarah Ruth has been appointed acting section head for the Antarctic sciences section (ANT) within the Office of Polar Programs (OPP), Directorate for Geosciences.

Before joining OPP, Dr. Ruth served as the section head for the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Facilities Section (NFS) within the Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS). NCAR serves the atmospheric science community by providing access to a wide array of experimental, observational, and computational capabilities comprising buildings, facilities, and scientific expertise. Dr. Ruth also previously served as the Program Coordinator in the NFS, and before that, she worked in various positions at the Natural Environment Research Council in the UK. 

Dr. Ruth earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Nottingham, UK, and a DPhil in Atmospheric Physics from the University of Oxford, UK.
