Appointment of Robert Moore, Acting Section Head, Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences
Dr. Robert Moore will assume the duties of Acting Section Head of the Geospace Section in the Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS) starting March 14, 2021. He will replace Dr. Michael Wiltberger, who has finished his fourth year on an IPA assignment at NSF, and will return to his home institution, National Center for Atmospheric Research.
Dr. Moore is currently a Program Director in Antarctic Astrophysics & Geospace Sciences in the Office of Polar programs. In addition, Dr. Moore has been detailed part time to the Geospace Facilities program in the Geospace Section of AGS. In this capacity, among other projects, he was managing the Arecibo Observatory facility.
Dr. Moore received his B.S.E., M.S.E., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. His research primarily focused on lightning, ionospheric physics, magnetospheric physics, and radio science.
