Nelson joins OPP as Safety and Occupational Health Manager

Mr. Chris Nelson has joined OPP as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager with over 11 years of professional experience that includes diverse operational expertise in construction, operations, and maintenance, service contracts, and government agreements.

Mr. Nelson comes from the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Japan District, where he managed a comprehensive safety program with a successful safety management system. Before that, he was the USACE Safety Manager for the Middle East District, where he worked diligently to facilitate a proactive safety culture in a part of the world where working safely is still a new concept.

Mr. Nelson’s experience in accident investigation, ability to perform quality technical safety reviews of documents, experience implementing successful safety management systems, and excellent ability to work as a partner with both those he supports and contractors he oversees will be an asset to OPP’s mission.
