Class of 2022–2023

Dr. Neeti Pokhriyal is a computer scientist with an interest in policy issues related to developing responsible artificial intelligence and data science technologies. She was the 2022 Mirzayan Policy Fellow at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, where she contributed to the Committee on National Statistics on aspects of data, privacy and equity. Her research background is in building interpretable machine learning models that model scenarios where data comes from heterogeneous sources, emphasizing quantifying uncertainty and biases.

Pokhriyal completed her postdoctoral training in the department of computer science at Dartmouth. As a postdoc, she was awarded a grant from Dartmouth's Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society to develop computational methods for understanding energy accessibility in developing economies. She completed her Ph.D. in computer science at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where her doctoral work was awarded the Chih Foundation Research and Publication Award. Before her Ph.D., Pokhriyal was a researcher in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She obtained her master's degree in computer science from the University of California, Riverside, where she received the Dean's Distinguished Fellowship.
