About

AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellows spend one or two years at the U.S. National Science Foundation learning how NSF operates, while contributing their expertise and skills to promote the progress of science and support transformative research. NSF fellowship assignments are designed to:

Educate and expose fellows to science policy.
Provide hands-on engagement on NSF programmatic planning, development and oversight activities.
Provide professional developmental opportunities to inform future career decisions.

Since 2000, NSF has hosted over 250 fellows. They work directly with NSF staff to support and shape agency programs that span all fields of fundamental science and engineering research. Upon completion of the fellowship, many fellows pursue careers in federal, nonprofit or private organizations, while others return to academia.
