Dr. Xavier J. Monroe is an education policy and sociology researcher focused on actualizing STEM opportunities, equity-minded policies, and reform implementation, particularly for marginalized communities. He earned undergraduate degrees in civil engineering and history from the University of Florida, a master's degree in educational leadership and policy from the University of Michigan, and a master's degree in sociology from Stanford University, where he also completed his doctorate in education policy and sociology of education with support from a U.S. National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program award. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as a Title I intervention teacher at a comprehensive support and improvement school. Most recently, Monroe served as an American Educational Research Association/American Association for the Advancement of Science congressional science and engineering fellow on Capitol Hill, where he worked on policy issues such as fusion energy and artificial intelligence across various sectors. Since completing his doctorate, Monroe founded Newhouse Consulting LLC to translate research into real-world change through policy, practice, and reform.
