Dr. Kathi Crow joins the NSF Division of Undergraduate Education as a fellow working with the Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Program. She has nearly twenty years of experience as a mathematics professor and has spent the last thirteen years on the faculty of Salem State University, an emerging HSI in Massachusetts. Her professional interests include data science, ring theory, inquiry-based learning and engaging more people in the study of mathematics. Her desire to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds has led her to teaching positions at universities in Egypt and Indonesia. Additionally, she spent her last sabbatical as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Jordan, furthering her commitment to global mathematics education.

Over the last two years, Crow has taken a lead role in the Building Inclusive Academically-Engaged Communities project. In this capacity, she has facilitated meaningful dialogues between Salem State students and faculty on the vital topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Furthermore, her dedication to fostering mathematical communities is evident in her establishment of the North Shore Undergraduate Math Conference. Over the past ten years, this conference has provided invaluable opportunities for participation in the mathematical community to hundreds of students who might otherwise lack access to extracurricular mathematics.
