Dr. Stella G. Uzogara

Dr. Stella G. Uzogara is a certified food scientist, registered dietitian nutritionist, health educator and policy advisor with legislative and public policy experience. Most recently, she served as a congressional science and technology policy fellow in the office of Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), where she advised on policy and researched issues relating to maternal and child health, science policy, food security, and climate change, among others. Currently an executive branch fellow at the U.S. National Science Foundation, Uzogara contributes her scientific expertise to STEM education and public policy that impacts U.S. populations. As a diversity leader, interdisciplinary scientist, and educator, she has also worked in underserved communities both in the U.S. and internationally. Uzogara has been published in diverse science journals and presented papers at scientific conferences. She also worked for several years in public health and higher education and is the recipient of many awards and fellowships.
Stella studied biochemistry early in her career at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and obtained a master's degree in nutrition and food science from Drexel University. She received her doctorate in food science from King's College London. She also obtained her professional training and licensure in nutrition and dietetics and studied at Simmons University and Iowa State University. She is also a fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Her favorite work includes science education in community colleges and advocacy in public health for women, children and other vulnerable populations.
