The U.S. National Science Foundation Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) program helps enhance research capabilities at EPSCoR jurisdictions and minority-serving institutions by supporting the establishment of centers that effectively integrate education and research.
CREST aims to develop new knowledge, improve the research productivity of individual faculty and expand the presence of all Americans in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

What we support
Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST Centers)
Supports the establishment of research centers at minority-serving institutions to enhance their research capabilities and promote the training of all Americans in STEM fields.
Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology - Research Infrastructure for Science and Engineering (CREST-RISE)
Supports the expansion of research and education capabilities of minority-serving institutions to strengthen their science and engineering graduate programs and increase the number of research doctoral students.
Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology Postdoctoral Research Program (CREST-PRP)
Supports early career scientists from underrepresented groups in STEM to conduct research aligned with the focus of active CREST Centers, with the goal of increasing workforce diversity in STEM fields.
EPSCoR Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (EPSCoR CREST Centers)
Supports the growth of research capabilities at institutions by establishing centers that integrate education and research effectively within EPSCoR jurisdictions.
CREST Centers Interest in Engineering Research
Invites the submission of new CREST Center proposals with a focus on engineering research that will increase research capacity and infrastructure at minority-serving institutions.
CREST Centers in Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences Research
Invites the creation of collaborative, interdisciplinary research centers that will lead to strong societal impacts through social, behavioral and economic sciences research related to advancing emerging technologies.
