Awardee Civil Rights Compliance

The U.S. National Science Foundation Awardee Civil Rights Compliance Program is dedicated to ensuring NSF awardees can learn and explore science and engineering without having to tolerate discrimination or harassment.

The program ensures awardee organizations comply with the following civil rights laws and regulations:

Notification requirements for NSF awardees

Awardees must notify NSF of findings/determinations of sexual harassment, other forms of harassment or sexual assault by an NSF-funded principal investigator or co-PI, placements of a PI/co-PI on administrative leave, or impositions of any administrative action relating to harassment or sexual assault findings or investigations.

Compliance reviews of NSF awardees

Learn how NSF regularly reviews the programs, services and activities of awardee organizations to ensure they comply with civil rights laws on the Compliance Reviews page.

Report harassment or discrimination

If you would like to report harassment you were subjected to, have witnessed or became aware of involving an NSF-funded program or activity, please visit the Report Harassment or Discrimination page.
