Division of Equity for Excellence in STEM
Class of 2022–2023

Dr. Sierra Jackson received her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Louisiana State University in 2015. She obtained her master's degree and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University under the guidance of Dr. Abraham Badu-Tawiah in 2017 and 2021, respectively.  As a graduate student at OSU, Jackson developed novel ionization sources for mass spectrometry and published several peer-reviewed manuscripts. As a graduate teaching associate, she taught a diverse group of science and non-science majors. Her commitment and passion for students' academic and professional development served as a critical building block in her role as a professor of chemistry at Dillard University. In this role, Jackson has effectively worked toward expanding the STEM pipeline by instructing and mentoring undergraduate students in an inclusive educational environment.
