NSF/AGS Early October 2023 Update

Colleagues,

Welcome to federal Fiscal Year 2024.  We have a few announcements and have included a selection of active solicitations and DCLs below.

Employment Opportunity

AGS is seeking a permanent Program Director for the Climate and Large-scale Dynamics program.  Please see the official announcement here and if you have questions about the position please contact Eric DeWeaver at edeweave@nsf.gov.

Outreach

On October 11th at 11 AM EST, AGS Program Director Dr. Lisa Winter will participate in a X (Twitter) Takeover of the official NSF X account. She will raise public awareness of the upcoming eclipses and associated NSF events as well as educate the public on solar eclipses and corona research. Be sure to follow @NSF or follow the hashtag #takeoverNSF to learn more.

NSF has secured funding to provide a number of solar viewing glasses to institutions in the path of the April 8, 2024 solar eclipse. If interested, please provide the following information to Astronomy Program Director (and AGS alum) Carrie Black cblack@nsf.gov:  1) The number of glasses needed and 2) An address for shipping.  Additionally, if you have information on the events you are planning, please let us know.  We would love to hear your stories.

Active Funding Opportunities

You can always find active funding opportunities on the NSF website under the “Find Funding & Apply” link, and here is the direct link to Geoscience-listed opportunities.  Of particular interest to our community are the following:
